OVERVIEW

An invitation to join Michael & Bronwyn Chant on a personalised tour of the Lands of the Bible.

Have you ever asked questions like:

  • How big is the Sea of Galilee?
  • What would it be like to look inside a real (empty!) Tomb?
  • What’s it like to stand on the Mt of Olives and pray over Jerusalem?

Once you have visited the Lands of the Bible, the Book becomes a real place, the towns have memories, the places have smells, the names have sights and sounds!  The Bible comes alive!

My wife Bronny and I have been privileged to lead hundreds of people around our favourite places in the Middle East, and see their faces shine for joy as the Bible comes alive for them.  We walk the same paving stones that Jesus walked on; we pray at the old Temple wall; we sail on Galilee; we walk the streets of Jerusalem; we sing Hosanna in the Shepherds fields of Bethlehem.

Will you join us to experience the lands of Jesus, the Apostles and the Prophets?  Will you come with us and walk “in their steps”?

Michael & Bronny Chant

Michael and Bronny Chant are extremely experienced tour leaders, having lead more than 15 tours to the Lands of the Bible. They first met while touring Israel many years ago, and have re-visited their favourite places many times since.  They know how to care for you, and know how to bring out the very best in your travel experience.

They love nothing more than sharing their special places with you, and enjoy seeing the ‘ah ha’ moments as the Bible stories literally come to life in front of your eyes.  A tour with Michael and Bronny is interesting, fun, enjoyable and exciting as you walk in the steps of Jesus, the Apostles and the prophets.  Michael is a Pastor with the CRC Churches International.

ITINERARY

Arrive Amman late afternoon (using EK flight arrives 1605).
Meet & greet on arrival with immigration assistance. Transfer to Dead Sea hotel for dinner & overnight.

Overnight: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea

Enjoy a float in the Dead Sea then checkout of the hotel. We visit Mt Nebo, to see where Moses looked over the Promised Land and is laid to rest. Continue to Madaba on the way down to Petra. Enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel in Petra.

Enjoy a full day to explore “the rose - red city” of Petra which, from 300 BC was inhabited by Nabateans. Take a walk through the dramatic “ciq” or canyon. See the Treasury, carved out of the pink stone, and continue past the Roman theatre, the Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb to the Roman road. If time permits, climb up to the High Place or the Deir or Monastery.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight Petra.

Drive up the desert highway to Allenby Bridge border crossing into Israel. Visit the Jordan River baptism site (Qasr al Yahud). Continue to Bethlehem. Overnight Bethlehem.

This morning we visit the key sites in Bethlehem – the Church of the Nativity, Shepherd’s Fields , some olivewood shopping followed by a lecture at the Bethlehem Bible College. Visit Bet Shean (biblical Scythopolis) to visit the Roman theatre, paved road and the excavations.
Dinner and overnight is at our hotel in Nof Ginosar.

Our first visit today will be Mt Tabor then on to Nazareth and see the oldest ‘Church of the Annunciation’ with Mary’s Well. Continue to Nazareth Village. This is an excavated village dating from around 1 AD. You will see the carefully renovated the synagogue and houses to give a unique insight into village life and agriculture, as it would have been at the time of Jesus. Return to Nof Ginosar for dinner and overnight.

Head up the Golan Heights to the Springs of Banias, also known as Caesarea Philippi where Peter said “You are Christ”. Continue to Tel Dan. Travel on through the Golan Heights, stopping for views at the border with Syria. Returning towards the Sea of Galilee we will visit Magdala the home town of Mary Magdaelene.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Meet back at the hotel for dinner and overnight in Nof Ginosar.

Visit the 1st century “Jesus Boat” found at Kibbutz Nof Ginosar. Enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee from Tiberias to Capernaum; there you will see an ancient synagogue and St. Peter’s house which was later converted into a church. Also by the shore you will visit Tabgha site of the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue to the Mount of Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount is remembered. Today we enjoy the tradition of a St Peter's fish lunch.
Return to our Kibbutz/hotel in Nof Ginosar for dinner and overnight.

Check out of our hotel and travel to Mt Carmel before continuing to Megiddo overlooking the Jezreel Valley and considered the Armageddon of the New Testament. Continue down to Caesarea, a beautiful site on the coast and once the capital of the Roman province. See the aqueduct, theatre, Herod’s Palace and the harbour from which St. Paul was taken to Rome.
Drive to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Drive to the Mount of Olives for a wonderful view of Jerusalem. See the Place of Ascension and the Pater Noster Church and view the Palm Sunday Road. At the foot of the hill see the Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient olive trees and the Church of All Nations.
In the afternoon visit the City of David Museum and Pool of Siloam – Enter the Dung Gate to visit the Western Wall, the Temple Area with the Al-Aksa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, which is the same rock that Abraham was going to sacrifice his son.
Return to our hotel in Jerusalem for overnight.

Enter the Old City once again. See the Pool of Bethesda where the angel ruffled the water, and St. Anne’s Church, the traditional birthplace of Jesus’ mother. Pass the Stations of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa ending at the Church of The Holy Sepulchre. Continue with a visit to David’s Citadel. Leave the Old City through Jaffa gate. Visit the Tomb of the Kings on Mount Zion and visit the tomb of David, the Upper Room and the Church of the Dormition. Return to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Start the day with a visit to the New City and, passing the Hebrew University and the Knesset, visit the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, where the world famous Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. Also see the 2nd Temple miniature Model of Jerusalem.
Continue to Yad Vashem to see the Museum of the Holocaust. The remainder the day is free.
Tonight we will travel to a Moshave for a Seder Passover dinner.

There is no set itinerary today. It is an opportunity to possibly sleep in and then revisit some sites; wander through the old city; Walk around the rampart walls of the city; do some shopping.

Start the day with a visit to Masada the last stronghold of Jewish resistance to the Romans. Continue to visit Ein Gedi with time to dip into the salty waters of the Dead Sea. Drive on to Qumran, where the Essene enclave was and see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden and later discovered. Return to your hotel and enjoy freshen up for our farewell dinner on the rooftop of Notre Dame.
